At Read Write Educate, we believe reading is the key to unlocking education.
Since we started homeschooling, our family spends the evenings reading a novel aloud together. This provides an opportunity to informally teach reading and comprehension skills, while allowing the kids to explore their imaginations. Often, it redeems a school day that sometimes seems less than effective. We can end the worst of days on a happy note. I feel better when my kids go to bed with a smile, and escaping into a fantasy world together helps us accomplish this.
My children are currently 9, 7, 5, and 2. The two year old is often in bed before we start reading. I’ll keep the list updated as we read more together.
